Welcome to Lilian Abyssinian Cattery! We are a small but dedicated cattery breeding purebred, registered. We are hobbyist breeders who choose to stay small for the health and happiness of our cats. We raise only a few quality litters a year to preserve, protect, perpetuate, and promote the wonderful Abyssinian cat. This breed makes devoted felines and wonderful companions. They demand your attention, follow you like a dog, and will surprise you with their intelligence. They are happy, inquisitive, and playful pets. It doesn't take them long to have a well-trained human to spoil them.
At Lilian Abyssinian Cattery, we do breed litters of kittens earmarked as pets. We breed cats as a hobby and because we love the breed, not as a business. We breed to produce show prospects. We take pride in understanding how important your Abyssinian cat or kitten is to you. As responsible Abyssinian cat breeders and fanciers, we take the health and well-being of our cats and their kittens very seriously. Each one of our Abyssinian kittens for sale is brought into the world with a great deal of love and care and we do our best to ensure this level of care will continue throughout their lives. For this reason, we screen potential adopters to ensure that they will be able to provide a loving, responsible, and permanent home. We want to make the “purrfect” match for many years of companionship and enjoyment.
Our kittens are raise in our house, loose and hand-raised as family members, to be friendly and affectionate companions, unafraid of children or the activity of a household. Their personalities range from lapto clowns but are usually a charming combination of both.
1. Patience!
Remember that to have a kitten that is comfortable in its paws, you have to be patient and not hesitate to wait several months. A serious breeder who cares about the well-being of his cats will NEVER let a kitten less than 3 months old go, as is unthinkable. also that he sells it to you “quickly” like in a supermarket!
2. Move!
It is very important to take the time to meet the breeder, to see the environment in which the kitten lives and to observe it within its siblings You should be able to get to know the kitten's mother. You should not hesitate to come and see it several times... A serious breeder will always be available and will welcome you as often as you feel the need. Nothing beats personal contact with the breeder. It's a special moment during which you can ask your questions about the Abyssinian and where The breeder will be able to help you discern if this breed really meets your expectations. During these meetings, an important climate of trust is established for the rest.
3. Favor pedigree kittens.
Avoid “type” kittens or “non-pedigree Abyssinian” kittens. When selecting breeders, the breeder uses criteria morphological and behavioral, but also uses a very important document: the pedigree. It's a lot of work... bringing Purebred kittens cannot be improvised! A purebred cat ALWAYS has a pedigree (LOS, LOOF, etc.). To have a pedigree, the kitten must ALWAYS have BOTH parents in possession of an official pedigree and its breeder must be a member of a cat club. The kitten must be registered in an official book. OTHERWISE, IT'S A HOUSE CAT! Would you pay 700 for an “Abyssinian” without papers… for a house cat? …knowing that the price of an Abyssinian with its papers (passport and pedigree), its identification chip, its complete vaccination, genetic tests(or by lineage) of Pkdef-PRA-FeLV-FIV diseases is between 900 and 1200 depending on its qualities?
4. The price of the kitten does not determine the breed!
Breeders of heart are those who do not seek to make a profit on the sale of a kitten...It is passion and love for the breed that drives them
.5. How to recognize breeders and kitten factories?
In general, the breeder does not ask you any questions (motivation, future environment, etc.). His heart is like a cash drawer.and he tells you about the price first... in his eyes you can imagine bags full of gold nuggets! He doesn't seem available to answer your questions about your kitten's well-being and the breed. Avoid
- Learn about the breed . Take the time to think about everything involved in adopting a kitten.
- Contact breeders affiliated with a cat club . Beware of fake small breeders! Inform yourself and if in doubt , CHECK the information provided.
- Visit several farms.
- Take time to visit the breeder , meet the breeder and get to know the kitten .
- Observe the kitten in its environment (not at a motorway service station and even less in photos).- Ask to see all the papers of the parents of your future kitten (health certificates and genetic tests, pedigrees, the parents' identification certificates...), the kitten's pedigree or pedigree request, its identification certificate, his health record...because words are good but these days, we can't just stick to that!
- DO NOT ADOPT A KITTEN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS OLD . The kitten still needs its mother to grow harmoniously. and he needs his siblings to develop his social skills
.
- Be careful with kittens that are sold at a higher price because they are “show” quality. No one, not even a cat judge, can know. how a kitten will evolve. Simply because at 3 months, it is IMPOSSIBLE to predict it; we can only have hope.
- Don't succumb to the sirens of dubious announcements
We will ask questions about your lifestyle with , schedule, other family members and other pets in your household. Our goal is to match the best with you — for the kitten’s happiness and yours.
Kittens will go to their new home at 3-4 months of age or later. For the health and safety of our kittens & cats, we do ship. You are welcome to fly a kitten or cat home with you in the cabin, however, advance arrangements must be made with the airline.
We do that by breeding from healthy queens and studs and raising them in a loving, clean home environment, complete with kids and dogs. They participate in our normal, everyday life. My two children love the cats and kittens as I do, and they spend lots of hands-on time with them. Our home is always a popular play date location, and it greatly benefits the kittens to have attention from all age ranges. When the kittens transition into new homes, their experiences here help them to feel comfortable in their new environment.
The cat is a small being that deserves our respect and is, therefore, not an object that we get rid of at the slightest problem (behavior, health, moving, etc.).Adopting a kitten is a long-term commitment (fifteen years or more) that requires a certain financial investment (vaccines, veterinarian, food quality, secure enclosure, secure windows and balcony, litter box, climbing tree, cat sitting, ...etc.) but also and above all an investment in time (cuddles, games, conversations, etc.).
We only place a kitten with people who agree to secure its future living space (= windows, balcony, terrace) .Before entrusting you with a kitten, we would like to get to know you during at first meeting at our home. We bring the kitten to his new house when the time comes. We reserve the right to refuse a sale if we believe that the well-being and the kitten's safety does not meet our expectations. Our kittens leave us at 16 weeks, which ensures their development and socialization. Our kittens are vaccinated (first and booster), dewormed and identified by chip. They are tested for PKdef (Piruvate Kinase Deficiency) and PRA (Progressive Atrophy of Retina), FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) and FeLV (Feline Leukemia). They have a LOS pedigree (Swiss Book of Origins). The price of an Abyssinian with its papers (passport and pedigree), its chip identification and complete vaccination costs between 900 and 1200 francs, according to his personal qualities in relation to the standard of his breed. We would like to keep in touch with future owners and if you should If you ever separate from your partner, we would like to know about it.to help you replace it
